Sodium Metaperiodate - (CAS No: 7790-28-5 Grade: ACS )
Sodium meta-periodate is a mild oxidant that is used for converting cis-glycol groups in carbohydrates to reactive aldehyde groups. Sodium meta-periodate cleaves bonds between adjacent carbon atoms that contain hydroxyl groups (cis-glycols), creating two aldehyde groups that are spontaneously reactive to amine- and hydrazide-activated labeling or cross-linking reagents. Used in coupling to amines with cyanborohydride reduction, Sodium Meta-periodate has rapidly increasing number of pharmaceutical applications, specially in biomedical research. Sodium Metaperiodate - (CAS No: 7790-28-5 Grade: ACS ) Formula : NaIO4 Formula Wt.: 213.89 Description White crystalline compound Assay(dried basis) min.99.5% pH(5% aq. solution) max.0.02% Insoluble matter max.3 ppm.
