AMMONIUM SULPHITE MONOHYDRATE: Colorless to White Crystals, also can react with the acid; also can react with the alkali. Has the reducibility, is easily oxidized in the air. Meets the heat, it will release the sulphur dioxide. The crystal is soluble in water (24%w/w at 0°C, 37%w/w at 100°C decomposes), to form a neutral solution. It is slightly soluble in alcohols. Addition of strong acids liberates sulphur dioxide gas. Addition of alkalis liberates ammonia gas. It is a reducing agent.
